Amatsu Jinja Shrine (Fighting Festival)
This shrine is called "Echigo no Kuni no Ichinomiya (The number one shrine)".
It is famous for its "Kenka Matsuri Festival" held on the 10th of April each year.
The sight of two portable shrines, known as Mikoshi, vigorously hitting and pushing each other is amazing to see!
In the afternoon, dance and music, which is designated as an important intangible folk cultural property, is performed.
