This park is located at Ashigara Pass, which straddles the border between Kanagawa and Shizuoka prefectures.
It offers a view of Ashigara Plain and Sagami Bay.
Visitors can experience not just nature but also history.
There is a stone slab engraved with poems containing references to Ashigara which appeared in the Manyoshu, the oldest collection of Japanese poetry, dating back over 1,200 years.
Plants mentioned in the Manyoshu are also grown in the park.
