Tsukiya-no-Michi Path

Tsukiya-no-Michi Path

The "Tsukiya-no-Michi Path" was named after water mill cabins called "Tsukiya" in Japanese.
Numerous watermill cabins were built around there to polish rice utilizing the river flow from the abundant spring water in Mishima City.
Long time ago, people placed rice in the cabin and used the power of the water to move the wheel, polishing the rice.
Rice milling is the process of producing white rice by hitting brown rice that has already had its husks removed with a mallet.
You can enjoy walking along the path of the Goten River while looking at the remnants of these quaint cabins and imagining the days of old when they were used until the Taisho period (1912~1926).
