The Center for Plant Diversity

The Center for Plant Diversity is a facility to hand down valuable plants and the environment left in Tokyo to the next generation.
The “learning garden” is a sample garden that reproduces the environment of the three main zones of Tokyo, which are Okutama, Musashino and Izu Islands, and peculiar wild plants of each zone are displayed outdoors.
The information pavilion shows the plant diversity in Tokyo; it exhibits endangered plants, displays information on the biology and natural environment of plants, and videos and books are also available.
We offer lectures and learning programs so that visitors can become familiar with plant diversity through a variety of ways.
