Yunomaru Highland (Ikenotaira Marshland)
There is plenty to enjoy on this plateau from spring to autumn, including alpine plants and trekking.
Events are held in June which feature the over 700,000 wild Japanese azalea in bloom.
It becomes a ski resort in the winter, with slopes that are accessible from the city, making it easy to enjoy skiing or snowboarding on the powdery snow.
