Hot Spring In Shimoda

Shimoda is famous as a place where high quality hot spring water springs up, and there are lots of areas with hot spring water that you can freely enjoy using, such as footbaths or hand baths, in the city.
Particularly famous among them are “Kaikoku no Ashiyu (located in the square in front of Shimoda station)” with its namako walls, “Shoin-dori Ashiyu (in Rendai-ji)” which is connected to Shoin Yoshida* and “Kaiyu no Ashiyu (in Madoga-hama Kaiyu Park)”.
Also, there are lots of hot springs that you can just drop by at.
You can enjoy a variety of them, such as large-scale baths and open-air baths with magnificent views overlooking the ocean, a Japanese-style wooden bathhouse called “Sennin-buro” that has been in business since the Edo period, curative hot springs for people who wish to heal diseases located in the mountainous areas and 100% pure hot springs with thick textured water.

He devoted himself to educating and supporting many “Ishin Shishi (men of high purpose)” who made major contributions to the Meiji Restoration.
