Katsuragi City Sumo Museum “Kehayaza” — Special Exhibition “Giants of Sumo”

When the Japan Sumo Association was founded in 1927 (Shōwa 2), the average body weight of makuuchi-ranked wrestlers was around 100 kg. From the early Heisei era onward, wrestlers became significantly larger, and the current average for makuuchi is approximately 159.8 kg. This exhibition focuses on wrestlers regarded as “large-sized” for their time, presenting their backgrounds and notable episodes.
