Taima no Sato Peony Festival

Taima-dera Temple and Sekko-ji Temple, both famous as flower temples, are known for the many peonies and Chinese peonies that bloom each year from around mid-April to early May. During the flowering season, the Taima no Sato Peony Festival (當麻の里ぼたん祭り) is held, and decorative lanterns are placed along the approach to Taima-dera Temple and around Sekko-ji Temple, adding to the atmosphere of the festival.

On April 14 during the festival period, the Nerikuyo-e Ceremony, which has a history of more than 1,000 years, is held at Taima-dera Temple.
