Historical Government House

The government offices and residences where the local governors and district magistrates administered political affairs during the Edo period are collectively referred to as the historical government house, or jin'ya.
After Hida came under the direct control of the Tokugawa Shogunate, the local governors and district magistrates dispatched from Edo conducted political affairs here.
This Takayama jin'ya is the only such structure remaining from the end of the Edo period.
