Shiba Ryotaro Memorial Hall

Shiba Ryotaro was an author whose works are loved by many even to this day.
By reading his works, you are able to learn about Japan’s history.

This memorial hall opened in November of 2001.
The memorial has been set up in a building designed by both Shiba Ryotaro’s family and the world-famous architect Ando Tadao.
The building’s undressed concrete makes it a unique sight worth seeing.
From the yard you are able to see Shiba Ryotaro’s study.
As you gaze, you can almost see him hard at work.
The building is three floors, with an open stairwell.
His collection of over 20,000 books stretches out farther than the eye can see.
