Saimyo-ji Temple Historic Park

It is a secluded and serene park located 450m above sea level, near the top of Matsuda-yama mountain.
As you climb the stone steps near the pond, you will see a stone monument which describes the origins of gomado and saimyo-ji temples.
It is said that in 1221 Joren Shonin (Genen) placed a gold and copper Buddha statue following a revelation in a dream, which became the origin of Saimyo-ji temple.
The temple used to be very prosperous, but it fell into decline due to warfare, and it was relocated to its current location in Oimachi Kaneko.
In April, a ceremony called Segakie is carried out, which shows that this place is deeply related to Buddhism.
