Tagawa City Coal Mining Historical Museum

Tagawa City Coal Mining Historical Museum is located on the former site of the Mitsui Tagawa Mining Plant Ita Shaft, which was the largest in Chikuho area.
The museum actively gathers, displays, keeps and surveys historical materials and offers unique descriptions of the history of coal mining using models and videos.
Furthermore, it owns and displays 627 of 697 works of the “Yamamoto Sakubei collection”, which are listed on UNESCO’s “Memories of the World”.
