Izu Animal Kingdom

"Animal zone"

The leisure land, “Izu Animal Kingdom” is located in Higashi Izu city, in the eastern part of Shizuoka prefecture.
The Izu Animal Kingdom consists of three areas: the “Animal Zone”, the “Play Zone” and the “Sports Zone”.

In the “Animal Zone” there are over 60 species of animals including many fierce animals and large herbivores, for example white tigers, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants, rhinoceros and zebra.
There are also many small animals that you can hold and touch such as capybara and armadillo.

“Backyard tours of fierce and herbivorous large animals” are held every day for a charge, 500 yen.
As part of these tours, a zookeeper will take you to the animal-breeding facilities normally only accessible to authorized personnel.
He will also explain the routine daily care of the animals.
At the end of the tour, you can feed a tiger or other fierce animal from the outside of the cage.

In the area of “Wakuwaku Fureai Plaza”, there are many different types of small animals that you can pet and feed.

“Play Zone” and “Sports Zone”

The “Play Zone” is situated on a small hill overlooking the seven Izu islands. This is an amusement park with plenty of attractions including a Sky jet and a large Ferris wheel from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the islands from 420 meters above sea level.

In the “Sports Zone”, you can rent equipment to enjoy the golf practice ranges and 2 kinds of putting courses (artificial turf and natural turf).
We also recommend dining at the “Animal Kingdom” restaurant from which you can observe white tigers or lions through the glass wall.
