Shinrokuen Park

In the Mishima Taisha shrine, adjacent to the Treasure Museum are deer that originally came from Kasuga Shrine in Nara in the Taisho period.
The park is known as "the park for God's deer".
According to the legend, when the Kasuga Shrine(Nara prefecture) was founded, the "God of thunder and sword (Takemikazuchi-no-mikoto)" came riding on the deer from the Kashima shrine (Ibaraki prefecture).
"Deer rice crackers" are sold at the gift shop to allow visitors to feed the deer.(Attention: feeding is only allowed from outside the fence.)
