Two chimneys and Ita tateko-yagura (a winding tower)

The two chimneys are in lyrics from “Tanko-busi (an old coal mining song)”, and they are symbolic of Tagawa city.
It is one of the largest chimneys in Japan (about 45m) and has survived from the Meiji era. (It’s a nationally registered tangible cultural property, a Heritage of Industrial Modernization designated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry)
