Utsunomiya Castle Park

Built in the late Heian period (794-1185), Utsunomiya Castle was once counted as one of the seven great castles of the Kanto region.
Much of the castle was burned down in battle during the Boshin War (1868-1869).
A portion of the castle’s main building, which has undergone many vicissitudes in history, is now restored, its surroundings turned into a park.
