A hydrangea blooming place where hanachozu originated

For over 1200 years, the temple has been a place of prayer for healing eye-related diseases.
The temple is also a place where hanachozu (floating flowers on hand washbasin) originated.
The temple is famous as a hydrangea temple, but it also features Yoko cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.
The 17th of every month is a festive day. This is when the Kamishoin is open to the public and limited-edition shrine stamps are granted.
