One of the Kazusa Gozan temples of the Tendai sect
A man-made lake in the southwestern part of the town. Hisaakira Kano, the lord of the Ichinomiya domain, is said to have named it after the Chinese Dongting Lake.
In spring it is known as a cherry blossom viewing spot, and in summer it is crowded with firefly viewing, bird watching and forest bathing.
