One of Sennan’s top photo spots, especially during hydrangea season

Chokeiji Temple is an old temple known as one of Sennan’s best places to see hydrangeas.
Around June each year, the temple grounds are filled with hydrangea blooms, earning it the affectionate nickname “Hydrangea Temple” and attracting many visitors and photography lovers.
The temple is said to have been founded in the first half of the 8th century by order of Emperor Shomu.
This tradition reflects the temple’s long connection with local faith and history.
When the flowers are at their best, the historic temple grounds and colorful hydrangeas create a calm seasonal scene that is especially appealing for photography and quiet walks.
