Ome Railway Park
Ome Railway Park opened in 1962 as a project for commemorating the 90th anniversary of the opening of Japanese railways.
In the park, steam locomotives from the Meiji (1868-1912)and Taisho(1912-1926) eras are displayed outdoors, including a "No. 3 locomotive" made in Britain and used on Japan's first railroad which ran between Shimbashi and Yokohama in 1872 and a D51 type steam locomotive that was used as a cargo train and was popular as a "Degoichi", among others.
In addition, the first car of the 0 series, which was active from the opening of the “Tokaido Shinkansen (high-speed railway)” which started in 1964 is also displayed. You can actually enter the driver's booth.
The mini SL "Benkei-go" which you can actually ride on is very popular among young children.
In the memorial hall attached to the park, a "railroad model panorama" constructed at 1/80th of the actual size, and other various railroad models are exhibited, and you can also learn about the railroads through commentary panels.
