Oshi, Former Togawa Family Residence

In the Kamiyoshida area, the northern gateway to Mt. Fuji, there was a lodging facility called Oshi City, which was formed for followers of Mt. Fuji worship that once flourished in the Edo period.

Oshi are people who undertake all lodging, guidance, and prayers for climbers of Mt. Fuji.
At their peak, there were 86 oshi houses in the area, and in the existing former Togawa family residence, visitors can see the Goshinzen no Ma (the space in front of the honorable deity) and other characteristic structures of the time.
