Akashi Castle

Akashi Castle was built in 1619, its construction was ordered by the second Tokugawa Shogun, Hidetada, as a back-up base for Himeji Castle. It marked its 400th anniversary in 2019.
The first castle owner was Tadamasa (Also known as Tadazane) Ogasawara.
In addition, Akashi Castle was selected as one of "Japan's 100 Best Castles", and the two remaining three-storied yagura (corner towers) were designated as national important cultural assets.
