Otowasan Kannonji Temple

With a Thousand-armed Kannon (also called the “thousand-armed, thousand-eyed, eleven-faced Kannon”) as its principal image, Otowayama Kannonji Temple has been worshiped since long ago as a temple where prayers to cure eye diseases are answered.
The large ginkgo tree on the temple’s precincts is estimated to be about six hundred years old, and it is a natural monument of the prefecture.
The tree grows a rare type of ginkgo fruit that is connected with its leaves. For this reason, it is called, “ohatsuki-icho” (“leaved ginkgo”).
