Hokiin Temple

Hokiin is an old temple tucked off a street in front of Hase-dera’s gate. It was built in 735 by the revered priest Tokudo.
In its garden is a stone believed to have been used by the priest to climb a pine tree, upon which he became a Bodhisattva. Touching the stone is believed to make people’s wishes come true.
