Kawagoe Kumano jinja Shrine

Kawagoe Kumano jinja Shrine was built during the Muromachi period (1336–1573) as a branch shrine of the Kumano Hongu Head Shrine located in Wakayama prefecture.
Locals call Kawagoe Kumano Shrine “okumansama,” and worship it as a god of good luck and matchmaking.
This shrine is dedicated to three gods: Izanami-no-mikoto, Kotosakano-no-mikoto, and Hayatamano-no-mikoto.
On the precincts of Kawagoe Kumano Shrine is a subsidiary shrine called Itsukushima Shrine, and it holds a fair on every third Sunday of the month, selling vegetables and giving hayashi music performances at the kagura hall.
The shrine also hosts a tori-no-ichi fair every year on the 3rd of December.
