Jyoraku-ji Temple

Jyoraku-ji Temple was revived in 1588 by a priest who was trained at Mt. Hiei.
The temple houses an Amida-sanzon-zo (image of the Amida triad) (Tokyo Metropolis- designated cultural property) and a seated image of Enma-o (Yama).
In the temple’s precincts grow Oga-hasu lotus plants, which are closely related to an ancient strain of lotus. Beautiful, pink flowers bloom from late June until early August.
There is also the city’s oldest tower-form statue of Jizo-bosatsu (Kṣitigarbha), which was erected by locals of Naganuma-mura Shimoshinden.
