Yamataka Jindaizakura Cherry Tree

The Yamataka Jindaizakura, believed to be some 2,000 years old, is Japan’s oldest cherry tree.
It is one of the “Three Great Cherry Trees of Japan,” and it was registered during the Taisho period as the first nationally-designated natural monument of Japan.
On the same precincts of Jisso-ji Temple, about 80,000 Lent lilies bloom at around the same time as the cherry tree, creating a beautiful, yellow-and-pink contrast.
