Three schoolhouses, which are wooden, modern Western-style structures built respectively in the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods stand beside one another.
Today, the Meiji-period schoolhouse houses a history museum; the Taisho period schoolhouse is used to hold workshops offering various experiences, such as farming or making soba noodles or a local stew called “hoto;” and the Showa-period schoolhouse has an Italian restaurant and a lodging facility (Oishi Gakko (“delicious school”)).
