Ohashi Dam

Ohashi Dam

In 2002, Ohashi Dam was chosen by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers as a Public Works Heritage site.
This was because it remains one of the largest of prewar dams in Japan and composes magnificent scenery while blending into the natural surroundings.
Today, it is used as the lower reservoir for Hongawa Power Station, a pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant.
In addition, you can visit the Energy Plaza Hongawa nearby to learn about the mechanism of hydroelectric power generation and obtain an "Ohashi Dam card."
Also, Shikoku Electric Power Co. provides "YONDEN Dam Navi," an app for exploring dams in Shikoku.
