Kotohira Jinja Shrine
Kotohira jinja Shrine is located in a mountain behind Ino Station, which is the terminal of a tram line. The shrine worships Omono-nushi, a deity believed to protect fishermen and travelers on sea.
The main hall is known for having delicate carvings.
On the shrine’s precincts are nine monuments inscribed with poetry.
Haiku poets who admired Matsuo Basho had inscribed poetry on natural stone to make this group of monuments, which is believed to be the largest of its kind in Kochi prefecture.
