Takidani Fudo Myooji Temple

The Takidani Fudo Myooji temple is said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi in 821.
Since ancient times, it has been called "one of the three fudos (Acala) in Japan" and is widely worshipped as "the god of eyes" and "the sprouting fudo".
The main statues of Fudo Myoo and Nidoji were designated as National Important Cultural Properties in 1956.
On the 28th of every month, the day of the festival, the temple is crowded with many food stalls and visitors.
On the 28th of May every year, during the Spring Festival, the Shibatou Daigomaku is performed.
