National Institute of Japanese Literature

The National Institute of Japanese Literature conducts research on Japanese literature and related material preserved in and outside of Japan.
The Institute exhibits the material for viewing and perusal, and it also holds symposiums and seminars.
The Institute sometimes exhibits Important Cultural Properties, such as the Kasuga Kaishi and works by Yamaga Soko, and valuable material such as old collections of illustrations of scenes from The Tale of Genji.
