Lake Tama (Murayama Reservoir)

This lake is an artificial lake that carries the role of being a waterjug for Tokyo residents, and it was built in a valley of hills.
Because cherry blossoms bloom in the whole area around the lake during spring, the lake is also known as a famous place for cherry blossoms.
Two intake towers, said to be the most beautiful in Japan, are also another point of fascination. These charming neo-Renaissance-style intake towers are cylinders made from bricks and topped with circular-dome-type roofs.
Owing to their beauty, the intake towers were selected for the "Selected 100 Dam Lakes" and "100 Views of the New Tokyo."
Also, on April 16th, 1978 (the 53rd year of the Showa era), the first Women's National Turtle Marathon was held, and this marathon is said to be Japan's first Women's Full Marathon.
