Maidenhair Trees at Koshukaido Street

The avenue of trees that line both sides of Koshukaido Street were planted by the Imperial Household Agency during street improvements in 1929, to commemorate the completion of the Tama Mausoleum for the Emperor Taisho in 1927.
In 1976, maidenhair trees were designated as the official city tree in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the municipal system. Mid-November is the best time to see the autumn leaves change color.
