Setagaya Art Museum

The Setagaya Museum of Art was built in 1986 in a corner of Kinuta Park. Under the basic theme of "What is art?", it stores a collection of approximately 16,000 items, including simple art pieces which is characteristic of Henri Rousseau. The large-scale exhibitions held on a regular basis offer opportunities to see a wide range of works from artists associated with Setagaya to famous artists from Japan and abroad. In addition, the building is designed by Shozo Uchii, one of Japan's leading architects in the post-war period. Because of th As the interior with greenery and a sense of openness which utilized the location within the park makes it possible to enjoy the scenery of the four seasons, it is also known by the nickname "Setagai" as a place for people to heal.
