Chikurinji Temple
The history of the Chikurinji Temple begins in Ikuma Senbo (also known as Kayano Senbo), which was built by Gyoki (668–749), a monk in the Nara era.
The principal image is the Manjushri bodhisattva, and the stream is uninterrupted of people who visit the graves of Gyoki and Ninsho (1217–1303) as well as attend the memorial service on the 2nd day of every month.
The quiet grounds are kept beautiful by regular cleaning on the part of volunteers, and the seasonal flowers such as weeping cherries, lotus, and camellias delight the eyes of visitors.
