Oyamazumi-Jinja Shrine

Legend has it that Oyamazumi-Jinja Shrine was founded about 2600 years ago.
Before the eastward expedition by Emperor Jinmu (who is said to have gone on his expedition to the Nara region from the southern Kyushu.), Ochi no Mikoto, an offspring of Oyamazumi no Kami who is the deity enshrined at this shrine, had sailed to Shikoku as a precursor and maintained the security of the Seto Inland Sea.
Ochi no Mikoto then set Omishima Island, a strategic place in the Geiyo Strait, as a sacred place and enshrined the god there.
Honden (main hall), Haiden (worship hall), and Hokyointo (pagoda) are designated as important cultural assets.
The adjacent treasure hall stores many important cultural assets, including national treasures.
