Teishoji Temple

Teishoji Temple is a Soto temple founded by Sadayoshi Tomono, who ruled the area during the Taiei Era (1521) in the Muromachi period.
As you climb the stone steps from the entrance, you will be able to see the site of Shimazaki Toson's former residence standing quietly on the left side and observe an old-fashioned Japanese house. (Open: April to November)
Teishoji Temple is famous overseas as a temple that had a great influence on the spread of zazen in Europe after the war, and even today, zazen meetings are held in the early mornings on the first and third Sundays of every month. Transcending religion, people who love zazen come to visit.
