Shikamura no Tanada

The rice terraces of Shikamura spread on a skirt of Hayama Mountain, which is revered as a deity of agriculture.
The terraces are called “stairs of a god,” and Shikamura is listed as one of the “100 Rice Terrace Settlements of Japan.”
The rice terraces take on distinctive looks in each season, and these idyll landscapes of Japan often fill visitors with calmness or even nostalgia.
In summer, a “firefly concert” is held here, during which the terraces are lit with about 1200 torches resembling the lights of fireflies.
