Shimizu Castle Ruins

Shimizu Castle Ruins is the tomb of generations of castle owners who belong to the Shimizu clan, which ruled the larger part of the area called Mogami-gun during the Sengoku period (1467 to 1615).
The village here is called “Okura-mura,” named after a ministerial title of the seventh-generation castle owner Shimizu Yoshichika, who was a “minister of finance” in feudal society.
