Mōtsū-ji Temple

The Motsu-ji temple was built by Motohira the second and Hidehira the third of the Oshu Fujiwara clan.
At the time, the temple's architecture was considered to be the finest in Japan, surpassing Chuson-ji in both size and splendour.
After the fall of the Fujiwara clan in Oshu, all the buildings were destroyed by repeated fires.
The Buddhist temple style garden with its Amida hall and Oizumigaike pond, as well as the Heian period architecture have been reconstructed and preserved to give visitors a glimpse of the beauty of a “pure land garden”.
