The 100th Anniversary Tower of the Foundation of the City

The 100th Anniversary Tower of the Foundation of the City stands to commemorate the centennial of the foundation of Chippubetsu-cho.
At the top of the tower hangs a large, Western-style bell that rings three times a day to tell the time to the residents.
The bell was modeled after a bell that was used to tell the time to the Tondenhei (soldiers involved in the development of Hokkaido during the late 19th century).
The observation room in the tower offers a 360°view of Chippubetsu, which takes on a different look in each season.
