Maruoka Castle

Maruoka Castle was built by Katsuie Shibata for his nephew, Katsutoyo Shibata in 1576 at the behest of Oda Nobunaga as a protection against the Ikko-ikki.
This castle tower is one of 12, and is built in the oldest architectural style among them.
One of its main characteristics is that its roof is entirely covered with stone tiles, which is rare for such castle towers in Japan.
