Mikuni Minato-machi (old district of Mikuni Town)

From the Edo period to the Meiji period, Mikuni Minato-machi became extremely prosperous through the “Kitamaebune” cargo ship trade.
Even today, visitors can still feel the history and the liveliness of the past in the old townscape, with its old townhouses with their lattice doors filled with pathos, and the various historical buildings that recall the former presence of many wealthy merchants.
Main highlights: the former Kishina family home, the former head office of the Morita Bank, the town’s various old storehouses, the Mikuni Ryushokan, etc.
