Ishibutai Tumulus

Built from approximately 30 megaliths, Ishibutai Tumulus contains Japan’s largest known stone burial chamber.
It has a unique form resulting from the loss of the embankment, and it is said that it became known as Ishibutai (stone stage) due to the flat top of the megalith used for its ceiling.
Tourists who visit in the springtime can also enjoy the sight of the 60 cherry blossom trees surrounding the tumulus.
