Asuka Palace Site
Various palaces were built on this site over the ages, and it is famous for being the location of the Isshi Incident (Taika Reform), where Soga no Iruka was assassinated by Prince Naka no Oe (Emperor Tenji) and others.
The stone-paved plaza and remains of the well, both currently restored, are from the upper Asuka Kiyomihara Palace.
