Historic Townscape of Uda-Matsuyama

Uda Matsuyama is a district that from ancient times was a castle town surrounding the Uda Matsuyama Castle, and later developed as a merchant town.
The traditional townscape that lives on from the Edo period was selected as an Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District in 2006.
The long-established Japanese sweets shops, sake breweries, soy sauce breweries, and cafes in renovated townhouses make this a fun area to stroll around.
