Former Traveller's Inn "Aburaya"
Built during late-Edo to the end of the Edo period, it was run as a “hatago,” or traveller’s inn, through the end of the Meiji period.
Former Traveller’s Inn Aburaya is located at the junction of Ise Honkaido and Ise Kaido (Awotsudo) in Fudanotsuji. It’s in the center of Hagiwarajuku, an inn town that prospered as a transportation hub since ancient times.
It retains pronounced vestiges of the time when the Ise Pilgrimage was at its peak.
