Urushi Base Soni "Nenrin"

Soni Village is called "Nurube no Sato (home of urushi lacquer work)" and known as the place where urushi lacquer originated.
It aims for a revival of urushi lacquer to keep the historic Soni Village, where urushi lacquer originated, alive.
Urushi Base Soni "Nenrin" opened in May 2018 as a base for handing down the culture and skills of urushi lacquer.
In addition to developing urushi lacquer, planting trees, and hosting exhibitions, workshops, and trial sessions for lacquer-tapping and other activities related to urushi lacquer, it is open for use by the general public for events and as an open space.
In addition, it displays and sells crafts from Nurube no Sato "Urushi Kobo," the studio next to Nenrin, made using the valuable urushi lacquer tapped in this land.
