Historical Sites of Prince Shotoku
Oji is home to many legendary sites related to Prince Shotoku, such as the remains of Saianji Temple, one of the 46 temples said to have been built by the prince; Ashita Pond, which the prince is said to have created in one day; and the road that the prince's body was carried down after he died in Ikaruga.
2021 will mark the 1400th anniversary of the prince's death in the year 622.
